Cytomegalovirus (CMV) IgM ELISA Test kit

CMV ELISA Test kit Intended Use
CMV IgM ELISA test kit is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay designed for the qualitative detection of IgM class antibodies to cytomegalovirus (CMV) in human serum. This test kit is intended to be used to evaluate serologic evidence of primary or reactivated infection with CMV.

CMV ELISA Kit Components:
• Microplate: 96 wells coated with purified 125kD capsid peptide
• HPR-Enzyme Conjugate Goat anti-human IgM
• Sample Diluent
• Calibrator
• Positive Control
• Negative Control
• TMB
• Wash Buffer (10X)
• Stop Solution (1M H2SO4, 0.7 HCl)

Method Principle
This Diagnostic Automation/ Cortez Diagnostics Inc. Human CMV IgM ELISA test system is designed to detect IgM class antibodies to CMV IgM in human sera. Wells of microplate strips are sensitized by passive absorption with CMV IgM antigen. The test procedure involves three incubation steps. For further details please refer to complete instructions manual supplied with the product.

Background Information
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections are widespread and usually asymptomatic; however, the virus may persist as a latent or chronic infection. Scientists classify CMV infections as follows:
Congenital - Acquired before birth
Perinatal - Acquired at birth
Postnatal - Acquired after birth
Production of the IgM class of antibodies begins during the first 2 to 3 weeks of infection with CMV and exists only transiently in most patients. Serologic procedures that measure the presence of IgM antibodies help discriminate between primary and recurrent infections. Recurrent infections rarely create IgM antibodies.
