CMV ELISA Test kit Intended Use
CMV IgG ELISA test kit is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay designed for the qualitative detection of IgG class antibodies to cytomegalovirus (CMV) in human serum. This test kit is intended to be used to evaluate serologic evidence of primary or reactivated infection with CMV.
Method Principle
This Diagnostic Automation/ Cortez Diagnostics Inc. Human Rubella IgG ELISA test system is designed to detect IgG class antibodies to Rubella virus in human sera. Wells of microplate strips are sensitized by passive absorption with Rubella antigen. The test procedure involves three incubation steps. For further details please refer to complete instructions manual supplied with the product.
Background Information
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections are widespread and usually asymptomatic; however, the virus may persist as a latent or chronic infection. Scientists classify CMV infections as follows:
Congenital - Acquired before birth
Perinatal - Acquired at birth
Postnatal - Acquired after birth
Production of the IgG class of antibodies begins during the first 2 to 3 weeks of infection with CMV and exists only transiently in most patients. Serologic procedures that measure the presence of IgG antibodies help discriminate between primary and recurrent infections. Recurrent infections rarely create IgG antibodies.
