Syphilis IgG ELISA Test kit

Syphilis ELISA Test kit Intended Use
Syphilis (T. pallidum)-IgG ELISA test kit is an enzyme immunoassay for the qualitative detection of IgG antibodies to T. pallidum in serum specimens to provide serological evidence of infection with T. pallidum, the causing agent of syphilis. Syphilis IgG kit is also intended for testing of serum or plasma specimens to screen blood and/or plasma.

Syphilis ELISA Kit Components:
• Microplate: 96 wells coated with T. pallidum antigens
• HPR-Enzyme Conjugate
• Serum Diluent
• High Titre reactive control
• Low Titre reactive control
• Non-reactive control
• Substrate Solution
• Wash Buffer (20X)
• Plate Sealers

Method Principle
This Diagnostic Automation/ Cortez Diagnostics Inc. Human Syphilis IgG ELISA test kit is designed to detect IgG class antibodies to T. pallidum, the causing agent of syphilis. Microplate wells coated with T. pallidum antigens are exposed to test specimens which may contain specific antibodies. After an incubation period, unbound components in the test sample are washed away. Specifically-bound IgG reacts with a conjugated-HRP monoclonal antibody during a second incubation period. For further details please refer to complete instructions manual supplied with the product.

Background Information
Syphilis is a highly contagious disease which is sexually transmitted. Syphilis is caused by bacterial infection of the spirochete Treponema pallidum (T.pallidum). Infection is systemic and the infected person is unaware of the diseases because of the latency stage and unknowingly passes it to his or her partner. This bacteria cannot be isolated in culture thus serological techniques play a major role in the diagnosis of syphilis and treatment follow-up. Syphilis-IgG is a treponemal test for T. pallidum IgG class antibodies. The enzyme immunoassay format allows use of a microplate reader which eliminates subjective interpretation of results and the test procedure can be automated for high-volume testing. Donors of blood and/or plasma for transfusion are screened for T. pallidum.
